Willmar Makes it 3 in a Row

The Willmar WarHawks hosted the Alexandria Blizzard on Saturday night and continued their winning ways with a 6-5 victory. The WarHawks came out of the dressing room with a dominating 1st period outshooting the Blizzard 11-4 and jumping out to a 2-0 lead. The power play would prove to be a theme in this one, and it started with Louis Anders scoring his 3rd of the season at the 5:20 mark. Ryne Mohrman, and Jack Willis picked up the assists. Three minutes later Austin Jozwick scored another power play goal with Cole Wigestrand and Brady O’Brien on the assists. Ethan Light scored the lone Willmar goal in the second period with Jack Willis and Anders picking up the assists, but the WarHawks found themselves tied at 3-3 heading into third. Anders picked up his 2nd goal of the night just 17 seconds in, again on the power play with Michael Sweetland and Ryne Mohrman assisting on Anders 4th of the year. After Alexandria jumped into the lead halfway through the third, Willmar connected on their 4th power play goal of night tying the game 5-5 at the 10:57 mark. Cole Wigestrand scored his 2nd of the season with Ben Johnson and Mohrman chipping in with the assists. About 4 minutes later it was Kaleb Miller scoring the eventual game winner. It was Miller’s 1st of the season with Jozwick and Wigestrand collecting the assists. Louis Anders, Cole Wigestrand, and Ryne Mohrman all had 3 point nights, and Luke Weberg made 22 saves to improve to 4-2 on the season.
