BLAINE — The Willmar WarHawks skated to an 8-2 victory Sunday night over the Missoula (Mont.) Junior Bruins at the Schwan’s Super Rink.

Josh Hoffman and Tony Brings each had two goals to lead Willmar. Brings also contributed two assists and Logan Starkey had three.

The WarHawks also got goals from Brandon Holt, Eli Slagter, Dylan Svoboda and Danny Klatt in the victory.

Luc Haggitt made 24 of 26 saves for the victory.

Willmar plays the New England Nights at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Blaine, then faces the Helena (Mont.) Bighorns at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday to wrap up its pre-holiday schedule.l

BLAINE — Chase Lapworth scored at 8:31 of the third period for the game’s lone score, but the star of this one was New England Knights goaltender Zach Roncarati.

The 19-year-old from East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, stopped all 48 shots he faced in the Knights’ 1-0 victory over the Willmar WarHawks on Monday afternoon at the Schwan’s Super Rink.

The effort reduced Roncararti’s goals-against average to 3.00 in 10 games for New England.

There were a total of 94 penalty minutes in the contest, the Knights charged with 45 and Willmar hit with 49.

Willmar (10-10-1) plays the Helena (Mont.) Bighorns at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Schwan’s Super Rink.

Willmar finishes 2-1 in Blaine with victory over Helena

BLAINE — The Willmar WarHawks wrapped up a successful three games at the Schwan’s Super Rink by knocking off the Helena (Mont.) Bighorns, 6-3 Tuesday afternoon in an NA3HL game.

Willmar (11-10-1) went 2-1 in three games against out-of-state opponents at Schwan’s Super Rink.

Against Helena, the WarHawks fell behind 3-2 on Abraham Laggis’ ninth goal of the season at 1:39 of the third period.

Willmar then scored four straight goals, getting scores from Josh Hoffman, Brandon Holt, Danny Klatt and Bowie Starks.

Holt wound up with two goals and Eli Slagter had three assists for the WarHawks.

Willmar returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 when the Breezy Point Stars come to the Willmar Civic Center Arena.
