WARHAWKS WIN AT HOME AND MAKE A JUMP IN THE STANDINGS

WarHawks started the weekend off on the road against the #1 team currently in the NA3 west division. After a evenly matched 1st period. The Grizzlies got the lead 1-0 going into the 2nd period. Willmar aimed to battle back but found the challenge a bit more than they could handle finding themselves in the penalty box consistently the last 2 periods. After finding themselves down 3-0, Braydon Buckingham put one behind Grizzlies goaltender with Zane Irion and Hudson Zinda having the assist on the play. What looked like some momentum change proved to be to little, too late. As the Warhawks fell 4 to 1.

The following night Saturday home at the Willmar Civic Center hosting the Minnesota Loons. The WarHawks had a rough and eerie start down 3-0 just 12:20 into the game. A quick wake up call and the WarHawks got to work coming back, putting 3 goals up themselves before the end of the 1st period. The game seemed to be in control of the Warhawks at that point until Loons scored once more coming at 5:53 into the 2nd period. But it was all Warhawks from that point on. Putting up 5 unanswered goals by Sam Holm, Nik Johnson, Tyler Misialek, Gus Cantwell, and Scott Woltman sealing the 8-4 victory for Willmar.

The WarHawks aim to be better defensively and more physical in preparation for the back to back games vs the rival Granite City Lumberjacks. Friday Oct. 27 in Sauk Rapids, Saturday Oct. 28th back home at the Willmar Civic Center.
