WARHAWKS SPLIT WITH ST. LOUIS

Sep 30, 2024

The first weekend of NA3HL Interdivision play saw the WarHawks take a road trip to St. Louis, MO for a pair of games against the Central Division Jr. Blues. Despite a long day of travel, the WarHawks came ready to rumble and took the lead 10 minutes into the 1st period on a goal by Gabe Adams (Callaghan, Montgomery) Friday night. The WarHawks would extend their lead in the 2nd off tallies by Adams (Hinze, Callaghan) and Wanka (Holtz, Hinze). The Blues showed some push in the 2nd, however three more goals from the WarHawks in the 3rd Period, including two from Wanka to give him the hattrick, would close out the game for a WarHawks 6-3 Final score and second win of the season.

Saturday night became a war of attrition for the WarHawks. A lack of puck luck and some physical play from STL kept both teams off the scoreboard in the opening frame. As the WarHawks looked to climb over the wall and get their first goal, the Jr. Blues struck early in the 2nd period. The WarHawks did settle in and battled their way through the 2nd, only to give up two goals back-to-back with 5 minutes left in the period. A steady 3rd period did no favors for the WarHawks and each team added a goal to the score column (Wendorff — Montgomery, Holtz) for a 1-4 Final score and weekend split with the St. Louis Jr. Blues.

The WarHawks will look to get back in the Win column this upcoming weekend with their home opener on Friday, October 4th against the Alexandria Blizzard. The WarHawks then travel to Alexandria on Saturday for another.
