The WarHawks selected 5 players in the 4 Rounds of the 2024 NA3HL Draft yesterday (Wednesday April 24). This years NA3HL draft saw 140 players selected and consisted of players of the birth year 2004-2008. The WarHawks came in with the goal in mind at the Draft to fill positions of need along with getting bigger, While keeping the good positive culture. Finding great players both on and off the ice.
1st Pick selected in the 1st Rnd, 17th Overall:
Talan Plante, a guy the WarHawks staff has been familiar with, A right shot defensemen standing at 6’1″ 185lbs. comes from Marshall, MN playing for and leading the Marshall High School varsity hockey team the past 2 seasons. In his High School career, he recorded 143 points in 99 games played. Finishing his Senior year with a stand out 54 points in 28 High School games. Talan also played for the WarHawks parts of the past 2 seasons including 5 games in the 23-24 season where he recorded 5 points.
2nd Pick selected in the 2nd Rnd, 38th Overall:
Luke Goldberg, a centermen from Algonquin, IL standing at 6’2″ 188lbs. Played the 23-24 season with the Chicago Fury 18U where he was towards the top of his team in points. Plays a hard 200 ft game using his size to defend and cause separation while handling the puck from the defending opponent. The Chicago Fury has offered great players for the WarHawks organization, most recently Scott Woltman along with Daniel Callaghan who Tendered back in March with the team for next season.
3rd Pick selected in the 2nd Rnd, 45th Overall:
Will Emerson, A skilled 5’9″ 155lbs. defensemen from Prior Lake, MN. Will led Prior Lake High School this year in points with 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists) in 26 games. His skating ability and vision to distribute the puck on the breakout and in the offensive zone makes him a very intriguing player for the WarHawks next season.
4th Pick Selected in the 3rd Rnd 87th Overall:
Brody Finnegan, A Orono, MN native and 5’11” 190lbs. defensemen joins us from the 2024 T1EHL 18U championship team Sioux Falls Power. Solid two way and dependable defensemen. Plays an effective game keeping the play in front of him and along the perimeter of the ice. Keeps it simple while moving the puck up ice to the forwards creating fast break offensive opportunities.
5th Pick selected in the 4th Rnd 115th Overall:
Hudson Slenker, Another big addition down the middle listed at 6’5″ center from York, PA. Hudson played the 23-24 season primarily with the SkipJacks HC 18U with 4 games played in the NCDC. At the young age of 17 years old with what he was able to accomplish this year. The ceiling and potential for Hudson is exciting to say the least.
