WARHAWKS HOST JACKS FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS GAME

Oct 19, 2026

WarHawks and Woodland Centers partnered up for Mental Health Awareness on Friday night as the boys took on the Lumberjacks. Boys had green tape on their sticks and all the lights and smoke machines lit up green as they came onto the ice in front of 600+ fans.

Woodland Centers message was you are not alone. There are people who understand and can help you find the care that you need and build a life worth living. Know that you matter and deserve to be happy! They highlighted Captain Tanner Lozano as their Player of the Night. “Enjoy it!” Lozano said about how he handles the pressures of junior hockey. “Nothing is too deep and not everything is going to go your way. One night won’t ruin your weekend and one weekend doesn’t ruin your season. There are more games coming.”

Even though the boys scored twice in the first period, they couldn’t overcome starting slow and getting scored on 6 times. Second and Third period were much better but ultimately lost.

Saturday the boys played the newly rebranded North Iowa Bulls for the first time this season. This was a highly anticipated game for both hockey clubs as they had similar points and win losses. First period was exactly what you’d think it would be with two similar teams. Wyatt Garvey (3), Aiden Hogan (2) Maddux Domagala (4), got the WarHawks on the board first with a goal. The Bulls tied it up a little less than a minute later. Halfway through the 1st, Maddux Domagala (7), Elliot Domagala (4), scored the 2nd and final goal of the night for the WarHawks. 5 minutes later, the Bulls tied it up again.

The Bulls scored 2 goals each period following the first to end the hopes of a comeback. Penalties were the theme for the night. Hard for either team, especially the WarHawks, to build momentum when you’re killing penalties for most of a period. 28 total penalties were assessed between the two teams.

Chris Ernster saw 34 shots, saving 28 with a 82% save percentage.

The WarHawks are on the road Friday but are back on home ice Saturday October 24th for Youth Hockey night to take on the Lumberjacks! All youth hockey players that wear their association jersey get in free with a paid adult. Youth Hockey Night is proudly sponsored by Willmar Indoor Golf!
