The WarHawks are pleased to announce our new Head Coach and GM, Joey Fodstad. Fodstad, a native of Rogers, Minnesota, is a dedicated hockey professional with a strong background as both a player and a coach.
Fodstad began his junior career with one season in the USPHL as a member of the Minnesota Mullets, followed by three competitive seasons in the NA3HL, highlighted by his time with the Rochester Grizzlies helping bring them to a Fraser Cup Final. He continued his playing career at the collegiate level, competing for two seasons at Concordia College-Moorhead, where he further developed his skillset and commitment to player development. For the past three years, he has served as an Assistant Coach, where he contributes to skill progression, game preparation, and the cultivation of a disciplined, growth-focused team environment. In addition, he has coached for various youth to junior level programs/teams in the Fargo area.
“Joey brings proven leadership and the ability to connect with today’s young athletes. His mission and goals for the program all align with what we are building here in Willmar. I am extremely thrilled to have Joey leading this program.” Director of Operations, Nate Schueller said about hiring Fodstad.
Joey Fodstad had this to say on becoming the next WarHawks Head Coach, ““I’m extremely honored and excited to be named the next head coach of the Willmar WarHawks. From the moment this opportunity came up, it felt like the perfect fit. I’m looking forward to helping our players develop their game while also growing as young men off the ice. I’d also like to give a special thank you to my family for supporting me throughout this process. Lastly, let’s go WarHawks!”
