WARHAWKS HAVE HOME AND HOME WITH MASON CITY

It was a home and home starting off in Mason City, Iowa Friday night. Willmar’s Michael Montague got the WarHawks on the board early with a top shelf goal from the point. Momentum shifted in the Toros favor later in the period as they put up 4 unanswered goals throughout the remainder of the 1st period and 2nd period. Willmar came out determined to come back while being down 4-1 to begin the 3rd period. Putting up a stellar 22 shots on Toros goalie scoring 2 just after the halfway mark of the 3rd. Goals coming from Michael Montague and Hudson Zinda. As the clock trickled down the lasting minutes. WarHawks took a chance by pulling their goalie to earn the extra man, The Toros found an opportunity scoring their 5th on the empty net. WarHawks kept battling scoring a Nik Johnson Goal in the final seconds which lead to the 5-4 final.

Saturday night was the rematch but back home at the Willmar Civic Center. The WarHawks were going in the night banged up but players stepped up. A tight game throughout with a 0-0 first period. WarHawks started the 2nd period off right, beginning the scoring with a rebound goal from Nik Johnson. 12:40 into the period Tyler Misialek scored the WarHawks 2nd goal followed soon after 14:36 into the period WarHawks 3rd goal by Zane Irion. The WarHawks have been ahead several times this season but they were not going to let this one slip by. The Toros did put one behind WarHawks goalie Kai Girard, but Scott Woltman put the iciing on the cake by sliding in the WarHawks 4th goal to make the score 4-1 to finalize the WarHawks victory!
