WARHAWKS DROP 2 CLOSE GAMES ON THE ROAD
The WarHawks knew it was going to be a big challenge on the road vs the top seeded Rochester Grizzlies. Scoring didn’t begin until after the halfway mark of the 2nd period with Rochester getting the 1st one past WarHawks goalie off an unfavorable bounce off a WarHawks skate. Willmar’s Tyler Misialek answered back soon after evening the score at 1 before Rochester scored their 2nd late in the 2nd period. Entering the 3rd period down 2-1. The WarHawks battled back to tie the game at 2 with another Tyler Misialek Goal. Shortly after Willmar took a penalty allowing Rochester to get their 3rd goal on the PowerPlay. Rochester went on to score one more. WarHawks were pressuring late getting the score within 1. Grizzlies finished their scoring with an empty netter with the matchup ending in a 5-3 victory for the Grizzlies.
From Rochester to Alexandria the next night, The WarHawks started off slow finding themselves down 2-0 after the 1st period. Once Willmar established themselves it became a very back and forth game. Both teams creating good chances before exchanging goals late in the 2nd period. Goals coming from Tyler Misialek and Gus Cantwell for Willmar. Alexandria put their 4th in 9:16 remaining in the 3rd. With Willmar in full pursuit to tie the game, scoring 1 but was to little, too late. with the WarHawks remaining down 1 at the final buzzer.
The WarHawks find themselves in yet again close games. As they look to find themselves in the on the favorable side of those close games. They prepare for 3 games beginning surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. Heading back to Alexandria Wednesday night, followed by a home and home with Mason City Friday and Saturday.
