Round 2 Tonight, Willmar hosts Wausau – Military Recognition Night

Nov 17, 2018

The Warhawks dropped a tough 4-2 decision last night to the Wausau Riverwolves during Heritage Bank Stocking Cap Night. Trailing 3-2 late in the third period, the Warhawks went on a power play, subsequently pulled the goaltender with under a minute remaining, but couldn’t jam home the game-tying goal before Wausau added an empty netter to set the final score.

Despite being outmanned, the Warhawks put up an impressive effort, outshooting the Riverwolves and they weren’t without their chances either. An entertaining back and forth game on Friday night hopefully serves as an appetizer to an even better treat tonight.

Thank you to all who braved the snow to come out and support the Warhawks on Friday. The crowd was light but loud and enthusiastic, as many in the community proudly made the trek to the cities to support the Willmar High School Football team, who respectfully have earned a birth in the MN State High School Football AAAA Championship next Friday night. Congrats to them and good luck!

Tonight is Military Recognition Night at the Willmar Civic Center. Puck drops at 7:30 pm, gates open at 6:45 pm. Tickets are on sale online at www.willmarwarhawks.com/tickets, allowing you to skip the ticket line at the gate.

A LIMITED AMOUNT OF VIP TIX ARE STILL AVAILABLE. Best deal in town — $25 gets you admission to the game, special-tier seating, all-you-can-eat catered by the Green Mill, as well as 3 drink vouchers per ticket.

Tonight’s game will recognize military members past and present, to honor and thank those that have fought to earn and preserve our freedoms here in the United States and around the world. Tonight is to honor those who have given some and all for their family and country. This night, we honor the men, women and the families who have and continue to sacrifice for their fellow Americans and many others around the world.

Special thanks to Crystal, Nate, Monica and the entire crew who help make the Willmar Warhawks a success day in and day out, at and away from the ice arena. Also thank you to the crew of the Willmar Civic Center, easily the best and friendliest in the business, making our venue one of the tops in junior hockey.

See you all tonight! #WeAreWillmar
