Goaltender Haugen called up to USHL’s Waterloo

Dec 5, 2019

Willmar Goaltender Lukas Haugen (2000, Cottagewood MN) has been called upon to join the USHL’s Waterloo Blackhawks.  The Blackhawks starting goaltender, Logan Stein, has been selected to play for the United States in the World Junior A Challenge.

It’s quite an opportunity for Haugen, who joined the Warhawks on November 7th, and has appeared in 3 games.  His record with the Warhawks is 1-1-1, with a shootout win against Alexandria and a 1-0 OT loss against one of the league’s top teams in Granite City.  He has recorded a .949 save percentage and a 2.21 goals against average, and has been solid helping backstop the Warhawks.

While it’s uncertain what this opportunity will turn into for Haugen, it’s one that is extremely rare and we wish him the best of luck during his time there.  In the meantime, Luc Haggitt, Luke Weberg and Gunnar Banks will shoulder the load between the pipes in Willmar.
