Buckingham & Easterwood to Play College Hockey

May 20, 2024

The Willmar WarHawks would like to congratulate 2 former WarHawks who landed a spot to continue playing career at the college level.

Braydon Buckingham Forward from Prior Lake, MN. Spent just shy of 2 full seasons with the WarHawks. Joining the team as a free agent at the beginning of the 22-23 season. Buckingham was an instant contributor getting the attention of NAHL teams, after putting up 32 points in 47 games. He earned himself a spot with the NAHL’s Amarillo Wranglers. When returning back to Willmar after 3 games beginning this season down in Amarillo, TX. Braydon was determined to have a big year and help this team, pursuing both team and individual success. He certainly did that and excited to see his commitment to NCAA III’s Kings College to join the Monarchs next season! Braydon was traded to the Wisconsin Woodsmen to finish out the season as they pursued a Fraser Cup.

Jesse Easterwood, Goalie from Chicago, IL. Makes his commitment to Wyoming University ACHA II. Jesse joined the WarHawks signing as a free agent not long before this season began. A leader and winning the starting goalie role as a first impression to this team. He went on to be atop the tough NA3HL west division in Save Percentage (SV%) during his time in Willmar. General Manager Connor White stated “Jesse was a great pick up for us and allowed us a chance to win games against the toughest of opponents in this league even if we were not playing our best in front of him. A high caliber goalie that I expect will excel greatly at the ACHA II level.” Jesse was traded to the West Bend Power to finish out the season as they pursued a Fraser Cup.

That makes 4 players from the 23-24 WarHawks so far who have made their college commitment. 3 onto NCAA III, Sam Holm (Gustavus Adolphus) and Gus Cantwell (New England College).
