WARHAWKS UPSET THE LUMBERJACKS AND WILDERNESS

Nov 18, 2024

The boys were riding high going into the weekend after a huge overtime win against the Toros two Sundays ago. They started the back to back road games on Friday night against the number one team in the West Division. The first period was a lot of back and forth between the two teams with only one penalty a piece. The fun didn’t start until halfway through the 2nd when Aidan Callaghan (3)(Wanka 8, Hinze 12) got a beautiful centering pass and shot 5 hole to get the WarHawks on the board. The 3rd period started tied 1-1. Less than 7 minutes in, Callaghan showed off his puck handling skills, walking 3 defenders and feeding a pass to Nathan Hinze (3)(Callaghan 9, Wanka 9) who was crashing the net to take the lead. Aidan Callaghan (4)(Wendorff 3) finished off the number one team in the West with an empty netter with only 37 seconds left in the game.

Saturday night, the boys made the long trip up to Eveleth for some revenge against the Wilderness. It didn’t take long before Zane Irion (5)(Vaculik 1, Montgomery 5) shot from the top of the circle, beating the tendy on a power play 5 minutes into the game. From then on, the ice was tilted in the favor of the WarHawks. The 2nd period saw Aidan Callaghan (5)(Hinze 13, Wendorff 4) and Zane Irion (6)(Vaculik 2, Montgomery 6) scoring to put the boys up by 2. Aidan Callaghan (6)(Woltman 5) finished off the Wilderness with a goal less than 6 minutes into the 3rd period.

The boys are in 4th place, one point behind the Toros and only 4 points behind the Blizzard. They have a big home game this Wednesday against the Lumberjacks. Pack the barn!
