WARHAWKS SPLIT GAMES AGAINST THE WILDERNESS

Nov 4, 2024

Wednesday night’s home game was one to remember. The boys went to the locker room down 1 after the first period. Scott Woltman (5)(Irion 2) got us on the board about halfway through the 2nd period to tie the game up. Less than a minute later, the Wilderness were able to sneak one in to go back to a 1 goal lead. Woltman (6) stole the puck in our defensive zone, skated it up and with a no-look shot beat the Wilderness goaltender in the first 18 seconds of the 3rd period. Mason Wanka (8) (Callaghan 5, M. Jackson 2) gave the WarHawks the lead for the first time later in the period. The Wilderness pulled their goal with less than 2 minutes left in regulation and scored with just 30 seconds left on the clock to tie the game up. After 5 minutes of overtime gone and no score, the shoot out started. Back and forth the teams went that felt like an eternity until Carson Wendorff had the puck on his stick. He took a wide berth to begin his shootout chance, slowly skating the puck into the slot. He let a wrister go above the hash marks and beat the tendy blocker side. The arena went insane!

The boys traveled all the way to Eveleth on Friday to play the Wilderness just 2 days later. Unfortunately they couldn’t find the same magic as Wednesday night, losing that away game.

WarHawks have 2 home games this weekend on Friday November 8th and Saturday November 9th. Pack the rink!
