The Willmar WarHawks' offense had a big night, peppering the Breezy Point North Stars with 45 shots throughout the game. The Willmar WarHawks took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Braden Shea.
Max Oelkers delivered for his team with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Braden Shea had no trouble finding the scoresheet, adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Alex Flicek chipped in with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist) and Aj Hoyt contributed with 2 goals.
During the first, Cooper opened the scoring for the WarHawks with a goal at 0:24 with helpers from his linemates, Shea and Oelkers. Oelkers netted a goal at 2:41 with helpers from his linemates, Shea and Cooper. Oelkers put in a goal at 14:38 with assists from teammates Cooper and Koester.
In the second, Heckaman finally put the North Stars on the board with a goal at 8:24 with assists from Flicek and Maucieri. Bolstad quickly followed with a goal at 8:58 with helpers from his linemates, Berkowitz and Holt. Berkowitz quickly followed with a goal at 10:56 with assists from Koester and Holt.
In the third period, Flicek answered for Breezy Point with a goal at 0:16 with helpers from Fladebo and Maucieri. Hoyt scored a goal at 3:08 with assists from his linemates, Borseth and Kram. Flicek quickly followed with a goal at 5:07 with helpers from Maucieri and Heckaman. Shea answered for the WarHawks with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:51 with assists from Toll and Bolstad. Hoyt answered for Breezy Point with a goal at 18:59 with helpers from his linemates, Maucieri and Petroske.
Willmar’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Fry as he stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced. Fry’s counterpart, Martinez, also had a big night, managing to stop 39 of 45, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Willmar WarHawks’ record to (20-17-4-0).
