Zach Martin did his part, adding 2 goals and Jordan Cooper delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
In the first period, Lienemann opened the scoring for the Whalers with a goal at 14:56 with helpers from his linemates, Grobstick and Rogers.
During the second, Martin answered for Willmar with a goal at 4:57 with assists from his linemates, Oelkers and Berkowitz. Pries put in what turned out to be the game winning goal at 11:52 with helpers from his linemates, Dixon and Berkowitz.
In the third, Cooper netted a goal at 12:38 with assists from teammates Gilbert and Shea. Berkowitz scored a goal at 17:28 with helpers from Pries and Toll. Martin quickly followed with a goal at 18:58 with assists from his linemates, Cooper and Voss.
The WarHawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Fry’s big night as he stopped 40 of the 41 shots he faced. Fry’s counterpart, Hufford, also had a big night, managing to stop 40 of 45, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Willmar WarHawks’ record to (6-4-1-0).
