During the first period, Holt opened the scoring for Willmar with a goal at 1:02 with helpers from his linemates, Oelkers and Shea.
In the second, Cooper put in a goal at 6:35 with helpers from his linemates, Bauman and Dixon. Oelkers netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 13:34 with assists from Erdmann and Wendorf.
During the third period, Hoyt finally put Breezy Point on the board with a goal at 7:28. Gilbert answered for Willmar with a goal at 11:35 with assists from his teammates Toll and Martin. Maucieri answered for the North Stars with a goal at 14:29 with helpers from his linemates, Langworthy and Hoyt. Shea answered for the WarHawks with a goal at 18:55 with helpers from Oelkers and Wendorf.
Willmar’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Fry’s big night as he stopped 39 of the 41 shots he faced. On the other hand, Fry’s counterpart, Ehrlich, and Breezy Point’s defense had a rough outing allowing 5 goals in 28 shots.
This win brings the Willmar WarHawks’ record to (8-5-1-0).
