Braden Shea scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Willmar WarHawks defeat the the Wisconsin Whalers 2-1 in a home game at Oregon Ice Arena in Willmar. What's more, Luke Fry came up big, stopping 37 of 38 shots throughout the game.
Braden Shea delivered for his team with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Wyatt Toll had a busy night with 2 assists.
In the first, Oelkers opened the scoring for the WarHawks with a goal at 2:47 with helpers from teammates Shea and Toll.
In the third, Rogers finally put Wisconsin on the board with a goal at 17:55 with helpers from Lienemann and Hefty. Shea quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:09 with assists from Dixon and Toll.
The WarHawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Fry’s big night as he stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced. Fry’s counterpart, Earls, also had a big night, managing to stop 42 of 44, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Willmar WarHawks’ record to (7-4-1-0).
