Goaltender Luke Fry commits to Trine University

The Willmar Warhawks, proud members of the NA3HL, are pleased to announce that goaltender Luke Fry, ’97 from Columbus, Indiana, has committed to attending college and playing hockey at Trine University.

This year for the Warhawks, Luke Fry compiled a 14-12-0-1 record, allowing 78 goals against while posting 2 shoutouts. He earned a .900 save percentage competing out of the West Division, arguably  Tier-3 Junior Hockey’s strongest division.

Luke is excited about the opportunity for this next stage in his life. “Playing at Trine this Fall will be a new and great experience. Being able to battle for a position on the NCAA team will be challenging but I’m always pushing myself and this will test my perseverance and drive.” Fry said. “I know my academic career here will take me to wherever I decide to go for my future job. I can not wait to go through these next four years of my life.”

The Warhawks are excited about their first commitment this season, as there were only four ’97s that finished the year with the program, and one of which was already at St. Cloud State. “What Luke was able to accomplish here was a testament to his character and hard work, and the collaborative effort of his teammates and organization as well.  Luke took advantage of the resources provided here, and it’s paying off,” Coach Bowman noted.

Formerly Tri-State University, and located in Angola, Indiana, Trine University boasts an NCAA-III team that plays out of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) as well as two teams participating in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
